New Embroidered Stockings

Much to my sorrow, my daughter's family decided to stay home and celebrate their own Christmas this year.  My daughter told me that she was going to have to make some stockings.  I volunteered to do it for her, and so I embarked on an ambitious project for a beginner in embroidery.

After pulling out some hair and wasting a bit of fabric and stabilizer, this is what I came up with:

I'm sure there is an easier way to do it than I figured out.  I made a paper template and poked holes in it so I could mark the center of each design for embroidery.

I made an extra one without
the name in case there are additions to my daughter's family...

I decided it needed a lining so the back side of the embroidery would be covered - of course - I used red polka dots!

  1. Did you get my first comment? They really are beautiful! I think the "S" that you chose for Sam is perfect.

  2. Beautiful! I ordered a Brother PE-770 and it arrived on Tuesday, but it is still in the box. I need more time before I take it and play with it. I need to figure out what I need for supplies besides thread, which I think I'm set on. Any tips would be appreciated!
