My new grandson is due in a month, and I finished the top to his quilt today!
here at allpeoplequilt.com. It is called "Blue and White Pinwheels", obviously I changed a few things. At first I had a cute stripe for the setting squares, but thankfully BEFORE I cut them out I had an idea. It just didn't seem like it was enough of a baby quilt, just a cute quilt. So I went looking. I didn't find anything I liked at my LQS, and I live in a small town, there aren't many choices of places to get fabric. I decided I would just work on the pinwheels until I had time to go somewhere else to shop. I ran to Walmart for some other stuff, and took a pass through the fabric department. Dare I confess this? I generally haven't found that the fabric at Walmart was of good enough quality for quilts, and have bought my fabrics at other places. They recently remodeled the fabric area of our local Walmart, and have a few more fabrics than before. I found this adorable Jungle fabric, and it feels good - heavy, and not transparent like some cheap fabric.
They had a coordinating busier fabric with more jungle scenes, and I got some for the back.
Now to work on a quilt for the baby's big brother (I can't make something for the baby and leave him out!). I'm saving the FMQ for last because that is my favorite part!
