Advent Quilt

My AMQ (amazing quilting friend) made up this pattern for me!
I actually made it a few years ago, but that was before I had a blog, and I have never blogged about it.  It gets put away with all of the Christmas decorations - I guess I am kind of simple in that "out of sight, out of mind" way, and I have only been blogging since last January, so it hasn't ever been one of my featured projects, although it is one of my favorites!

It has 24 little ornaments that hang from red buttons sewn on to an appliqued tree.  This one is rare for me because it is HAND APPLIQUED and HAND QUILTED!!  Not my usual because I am in too much of a hurry, I guess!

I'm not sure if you can tell, but I quilted it in little star shapes.  I cut a star out of cardboard, used a pen with disappearing ink and traced a star onto the background. Then I tried to quickly quilt it before the star disappeared!

I love all the little shapes and figures.  It seems like my AQF had that pattern for those, I'm sorry I can't give credit to whoever designed those shapes, but I do think they are adorable.

Of course, since it is an "advent" quilt, I should put up one new ornament each day - but I love them all so much that I just put them all up and enjoy them.  And I have to admit, I hate taking this down at the end of the season!
