The Dot Quilt

Would you look at that? This is one of Ruth Ann's most impressive quilts. I remember that she worked on this for a LONG time! She says, "This is one of my all time favorite quilts. My teenage son says he wants this one someday. This pattern was in a Fons and Porter Magazine. Every dot is different, I had to beg some pieces off of friends. It took a long time to get all the dots arranged. I hand appliqued them all and hand quilted the quilt. It was a real challenge to keep the rows even. It was also tricky to cut away the underlayers of the dots so it could be hand quilted easier. I just love it."

Here is a close-up. Appliqued and quilted by hand. Wow. But guess what? After I showed her my applique trick she said she wished she had known it before she did all these dots! If you haven't looked at the post about my tip, you should check it out!

  1. This quilt is fabulous! I love it. I think I just might have to try it using my favorite colors - pink, pink & pink :)

By the way, awesomeness is TOTALLY in the eye of the beholder. Thanks.
