Lori Holt, over at Bee In My Bonnet was my inspiration, she designed some barn blocks and had a sew along. I loved the idea, but I wanted my barns to look a little different. It stuck in the back of my brain until I finally got around to sketching something out one day...
I wanted another view of the barn, so...
Now I had a side view and a front view. I made up one of each of the blocks. I loved that first one, but the second one just wasn't right.
It just looks boring and I decided the brown just wasn't right. So I decided to change the door and try to applique a roof on...
That was much better, but I didn't like how the roof was kind of wobbly looking. Argh.
EQ7 to the rescue! I entered both of my blocks in my program so I could print out foundation pieces to sew together. What do you think?
Here is the other block. I really like how they turned out! I made two of each and kept the wobbly roofed one to make into a pillow for my couch.
I made a mirror version of this block. I'm going to put them in a square with sashing and corner blocks...
I made this mess in my sewing room. I needed some red vines to tide me through the frustrating parts, but when I made the last block it only took 1 1/2 hours from when I printed the foundation pieces until I picked off the paper and pressed my finished block! Whew, just wait, I think I'm gonna like this one!
I followed Lori Holt's sew along that you mentioned but I did not participate. Looks like you've got it! Love your blocks.
