New (to me) Tool!

At the last quilt class there was someone who had a tool that no one else had seen before. I thought I would share because I went right out and bought one, it was cheap, and it works great!

Introducing:

The Quick Quarter! There are others made by different companies but this is the one sold at my LQS. Here is how it works.

You take your two different colored squares of fabric.
On the back of one of them you line things up so you can see the two diagonal corners just barely peeking through the slit in the center of the ruler. Draw a line down each side of the ruler.
Take it over to your machine and sew on each line.

Cut them apart lining up your ruler from diagonal point to diagonal point...

Press them open...

After you trim the tags you have two perfect half square triangles!

If you want more ideas, I posted before about different ways to make HSTs here.

I love learning about new tools! If you have a favorite tool I would love to hear about it!!

  1. I keep one on my cutting table and one next to my sewing machine, such a handy tool!

  2. I have a similar product and I love it. It comes in handy fro my hand sewing, my HSTs and all sorts of tasks. In fact, I have three! One of those is always by my side.
