Would you like to make a Spicey Spiral table runner? You will need to get this pattern and ruler. You can get them here.
Take your 8 different fat quarters and cut the strips according to the pattern instructions.
Then you sew the strips into "stratas" with your colors all laid out. Yes, I made a mistake on the first one and had to go back and fix it later...
Then you cut out your pieces. Let me re-assure you that you can do this with 4 strata pieces. You don't have to fit as much on to one piece as the pattern directions make you think, when you can't cut any more out of this piece, just move on to the next side...
Keep all of your pieces in order by size.
When you begin sewing the pieces together make sure you follow the directions and sew both of your spirals alike. Don't make one a mirror image of the other or you won't get the spiral (how do I know this???).
Once you finish one half, press all the seams to one side and make your other side.
Lay your two finished halves like this and sew the center seam. Then quilt...
Make sure you cut your binding on the bias so you can curve neatly around your spiral.
Ta Da!
Did you use a specialty ruler to cut out the pieces?

I did this pattern twice and it came out beautifully both times. I used the 9-degree wedge rules, which is specified to use in the pattern.
